In the beginning...
How It All Started
Andre Vassi’s journey into the world of colour and menswear began while he was still a student, when he took a job at a clothing store.
Under the guidance of the store’s owner, an experienced menswear specialist, Andre learned the craft from the inside out. From fit and fabric to construction, styling, and the details that distinguish exceptional clothing. As his mentor’s health declined, Andre took on greater responsibility and eventually assumed management of the store.
Those formative years shaped his understanding of menswear and sparked a desire to create something of his own.
In April 1997, Andre opened his first store in the heart of downtown Toronto, introducing the VASSI line alongside a curated selection of other brands. Over time, however, he became increasingly dissatisfied with an industry in which prices continued to rise without a corresponding improvement in quality.
So, in 2007, Andre made a defining decision: to focus exclusively on VASSI.
Since then, every piece in the VASSI collection has been developed under Andre’s direction, reflecting his personal approach to colour, proportion, craftsmanship, and individual style. Rather than following the conventions of traditional menswear, VASSI offers a distinctive point of view—refined, expressive, and unmistakably its own.
Today, VASSI represents more than clothing. It is the culmination of Andre’s decades-long commitment to quality, sophistication, individuality, and the transformative power of colour.
Because at VASSI, menswear was never meant to disappear into a sea of black.

VASSI garments are created using carefully selected fabrics and materials chosen for their feel, drape, durability, and character. From tailoring to shirting, quality begins with the material. We mostly work with fabrics and materials from: Italy, Poland, Mongolia.
